The past few weeks in California have been unreal weather-wise. On Sunday, no joke, we were at Rio Del Mar beach and it was 67 degrees and warmer than some summer days on the coast. Being that is still is February and so many US residents are not feeling the warmth like we have, I know Spring is forefront on your mind. It will be nice to consistently shed the layers of clothing the winter has us in, as well as don a cute pair of shoes!
Speaking of cute, Dansko has just launched their new Sanibel collection, Sanibel is part sneaker part clog with all the Dansko comfort you’ve known and loved! The styles available just scream Spring, we’re talking floral, plaid, tie-day, and This lightweight, flexible construction shoe is perfect for spring or ideal on that warm weather vacation. And best of all it retails for under $100! A first for a Dansko shoe!

Available in either a clog style or laced-sneaker version, the Volley, Veda, and Vesta styles for Mom and Child. The kid’s sneaker-clog adds about an inch of height, 1 1/4 inch in the women’s, and both have slip-resistant rubber outsoles will keep you stable throughout the shoe. Something that’s new to me relating to shoes, the Dansko Sanibels are available in Vegan options, 100% animal products free, entirely of man-made materials!
Our Take: I LOVE these shoes! The height gives me confidence (i’m only 5’1″), the shoe is comfortable and gives my whole foot support. I can wear these with thin socks and long pants/jeans or without socks and capris and shorts, and they are perfect, casual and even good for every day! Yes, I did choose black, but it isn’t color that makes me feel Spring, it’s the canvas style that gives me the kick-back, casual feel of the season, plus they match my bottoms that I wear, my color comes from tees and tops!
My youngest just turned five and calls her shoes, “her big-girl Kindergarten shoes” because the height makes her feel bigger, and just having a heel is what older girls wear, so she too has an air about her that exudes confidence when she picks them out for the day. Now her pink is perfect for her wardrobe that includes every shade of the color. She wears a size 10.5 and we see that they are just a touch on the big side so her heel slips out of the back a bit when she’s barefoot, with a sock, there’s no slipping, and thus no blisters which can be a big red flag for shoes like this!
In May we will be heading to Hawaii, and sure, I’ll pack flip-flops, but my Dansko’s will be in my suitcase as well. I know they will come in handy when some walking is involved and they’ll be great for those excursions like zip-lining when closed toe shoes are needed!
The kid’s Sanibel collection is $64, while the women’s range from $69-$89.95.
