Heavenly Spa Review at The Westin Maui

Stepping off the plane onto a tropical island, there’s an immediate feeling of relaxation. Getting a massage during your stay, only icing on the cake! During our stay at The Westin Maui, I was given that icing with a Sugar Scrub and Body Wrap at the resort’s Heavenly Spa. I’ve never had any treatment like this in my life. The closest was a clinical massage for frequent headaches and that is NOT the same.

Prior to my appointment, we toured the spa area. Through the store there’s a spot to get water with lemon and cucumber to cool you down from the warm outdoor air. You’re then taken into the women’s locker room. With a quick keyless password you create, you have a locker for your belongings as you change into a robe and slippers provided. Before you leave, there is a nice jacuzzi or sauna you can enjoy to ease some or any tension.

Upon leaving the locker room, you enter a quiet waiting area. Here you can sit in a chaise with a magazine, hot tea, water, dried mango and other light treats are available. You can also sit overlooking the Tropica restaurant and the beach/ocean just beyond and just meditate, or just peacefully await your treatment.

When called back you pass an assorted of rooms all designate for various treatments, massages, and even couples treatment suites. The rooms are dimly lit, smell of the essential oils, lotions, and local essence of the island. At this point, I asked myself what took me so long to experience such special attention!

Terri, my esthetician was sweet, we had nice casual chat, I literally left my woes at the door in a dish set outside my door, all the while she pampered me from head to toe with a body treatment which begins with a native island sugar scrub infused with Maui lavender and passion fruit oils. After a refreshing shower, you are
wrapped in warm towels and blankets finished with a rejuvenating scalp massage. In the middle she stepped out as I rinse the sugar from my skin, all being so relaxing, professional, and to my needs.

Once done, I was allowed to stay in the waiting area as long as I needed before heading back to the locker room, where showers are available, full dressing area with hair dryers and simple toiletries.

When I left the Spa, my skin felt like silk, the aroma I was emitting was luxurious as my experience, the resort, and the island. I vowed to treat myself and my body like this on more occasions.

My husband can have all the surfing, paddle board, and scuba lessons, I’ll stick to the spa!
