Our family was invited by Kia Motors USA to attend the Kia Classic in Carlsbad, California. Kia is the official sponsor of the professional women’s golf tournament and fittingly we also had the chance to one of the first people to drive the 2014 Kia Sorento to the event!
My husband and I have not been on a golf course to play, but I’ve always loved the relaxing quality of watching it on television. Little did I know how neat it would be to follow a tour in person. The Aviara Golf Course was stunningly beautiful, and there were many times during the event that we told each other, we could get used to these surroundings, let’s take up golf!
The only coastal California course designed by Arnold Palmer, Aviara Golf Club features a memorable layout: par 72 over 18 holes and 7,007 yards uniquely sculpted around rolling hillsides, native wildflowers, and plenty of bunker and water challenges. Hole after hole, Aviara golf stimulates the senses with colorful flowers and flora.
Playing golf looks like a vacation, strolling the course leisurely while doing something you love. See for yourself…
The women were amazing to watch, love the female professional role models that my daughters witnessed. From start to finish we were able to watch the ladies practice on the putting green, tee off, and then finish up on the 18th hole. All 3 of our kids were in awe each tee off by the power of the swing’s whoosh and the sheer distance each ball flew and landed as we followed the golfers on each hole. The Kia branding was spot on, I loved checking out the cars, and there were a handful that we’ve reviewed!
The best was the Kia Cadenza floating in the water on the 18th hole! We were VIP’s during the event, watching from the Skybox on 18 with this view:Highlights of the day included a meet and greet from the amazing Michelle Wie, a professional golfer from Oahu. I have watched her on tv and she is athletic and graceful, and she is a really generous person as we got to know her!
Plus, spending the day with my kids, my husband, and a few of my favorite bloggers (Jasmine of Simply Real Moms and Shannon from The Mommy Files) was just icing on the cake!
What an inspiring day that may put some members of our family on the golf course for some lessons soon! I’ve already imagined my style and look on the course, now to get my hands on some clubs!
Congratulations to Beatriz Recari on her win that weekend!
Our trip including accommodations, meals, and travel were hosted by Kia, all opinions always my own!

You got some great shots Jen! I wish we had been able to take a walk around the course but it was too far to ask a 3 year old to do – lol. It was my first time on site at a professional game and agree it was different than expected. Such a fun family experience!
