Heading to Hawaii next month has me thinking about packing my suitcase and the items I need to bring. I think I’ll literally bring two pairs of shoes and one of those HAS to be flip-flops! I mean, really will I need anything else? I live in flip-flops here in California, and on the islands I’m sure it isn’t any different. Luckily I teamed up with Teva to get some new footwear for both my husband and I for our upcoming adventure.
Essentially, Teva® has two fundamental responsibilities: to play and to protect. We play in the water, but we also see the need to be protected from it. Our responsibility is to manage this delicate balance, so you can go forth without reservation. Armed with a quarter-century worth of knowledge and technology, we are dedicated to developing products that strike this balance to deliver the most out of your adventures.
Teva sandals and shoes have been around for nearly 25 years and the quality is still top-notch. I have been wearing the Mandalyn Wedge for a few weeks now and the comfort of this flip flop, combined with the great style of the fabric pattern is amazing. The first few days, that slight wedge incline on acutally gave my calves a workout and that’s a good thing. The soles of the shoes have some traction and are not slippery at all like some flip-flops can be. After a while, they just became molded to my feet and an easy shoe to wear with shorts, a cotton dress, or even “spring-up” a pair of jeans. Knowing that, they will be my primary shoe in Maui at the beach, by the pool, and exploring the island!
My husband opted for something a little more sporty and active, like his lifestyle. His flat-soled-feet require him to need a bit of extra support, arch, and he likes a closed toe for biking and added protection.
A blended polyurethane/EVA unit in the heel cup evenly transfers the energy of impact throughout the footbed and away from the heel. This energy return actually provides greater spring with each forefoot push-off.
The Itunda shoe was his choice and he wears them everywhere except for work! He’s out on the baseball field in jeans, wearing him on bike rides with shorts, and they will be perfect for Maui’s beaches, and even in the water (snorkeling!). They are a flexible sandal, open and allowing air/water/sand/etc to flow in and out freely and can be worn with or without socks. We’re planning a bike ride down Haleakala volcano, I’m pretty sure this will be the shoes my husband will be wearing!
*Update 1/21/2016, nearly 5 years later these are my husband’s favorite shoe! He’d wear them 24-7 if he could!
