I don’t want to believe in 3 short weeks, the kids will be back in school and summer vacation will be over. It seems that the summer gets shorter each year, but we’re thinking back-to-school shopping and starting off with an essential, the shoe!
My son goes through about 2-3 pair in one school year. He loves running during lunch for the school’s mileage club, he plays hard every day, not to mention normal growth spurts as a 10 year old! Once in a while we have yard sales and my son’s shoes can never be included because they get worn OUT! I need a shoe for him that supports his low arch, will last, and feel good on his feet!
We were sent some Teva Charge Kids shoes for him to try out for this fall. My husband and I are Teva sandal fans and were excited to try out a tennis shoe for the kids!
• The Charge Kids is designed for adventurous kids who like to play hard
• Features Durabrasion Rubber outsole which offers versatile traction
• Synthetic leather and mesh upper provides protection
• Stretchy draw-cord lacing system makes it easy to take on and off
$45 Waterproof version $55
Our Take: First of all, we received the shoes in a size 3.5, my son’s size in all of his current shoes, cleats, and sandals is a 3 so we wanted room for growth. When we got the 3.5, they ran small, and I no problem dealing with the company and representative for an exchange. We also found they ran a bit narrow, so we ordered a 4.5 to take into consideration for growth as well. This size fit perfectly with a thumb space between toe and top of shoe.
The shoe looks nice, fits great (though still more narrow), and my son says they are light and like running on air! The draw-cord pulled tight needs to be tucked into the shoe so it doesn’t dangle, though it does make it easy to adjust and pull on and off. My son wears an arch support insole and it fits nicely and secure inside the shoe. Riding his bike, running around, and playing at the park, the shoes are great for everything right now and perfect for everday at school. The traction is perfect for active kids and my suggestion is that you check the size chart closely as we ordered a full size larger.
