Road trips are something we love to do as a family. The destination is always the highlight, but bonding in the car over books, music, and entertainment also makes for great memories. I have a fond recollection of driving to Salem Oregon in 1981 with my parents and listening to the entire Grease soundtrack on 8-track cassette and reading Nancy Drew novels! It was the little things that would make a 10 hour drive go by quicker. In the past 15 years of raising my own children books and music are still popular in our car and thanks to technology, DVD players and other battery-operated electronics kept them happy with minimal “are we there yet” comments.
Now here we are in September, 2014 and the automotive industry has a huge announcement that is going to make so many car buyers, especially parents, thrilled! Honestly when I heard about it I let out a scream! Sure my kids are going to be happy, but I may never want to be behind the wheel again, only a passenger!
Chevrolet is leading the way of technology as the first and ONLY car company to bring built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi to their cars, trucks, and crossovers!
I’ll let you take a moment to let that sink in.
I hear angels singing, I don’t know about you! This is a life-changer, seriously. I’ve been reviewing cars for a few years now and this has got to be the best thing I’ve heard of as a social media influencer, as well as a mom with three kids that would love this benefit of home taken with us on the road!
OnStar 4G LET Wi-Fi is the ultimate Wi-Fi hotspot that we’ve been waiting for in a vehicle and it offers great signal quality and bandwidth for up to SEVEN devices! We are heading to San Diego later this fall with the family and this would be such a bonus in our car! It’s 9 hours travel time and between the five of us we could have our two iPhones, the Moto X, two laptops, and two iPads all connected. The trip could include this:
2 hours on the cell phone–saving our monthly data– streaming videos, listening to music, social media, researching (all of us)
2 hours watching a movie on Netflix on the laptop (youngest)
1 hour working on homework on the tablet (oldest)
1 hour playing Minecraft and Skyping with your cousin (son)
2 hours working (husband guilt)
1 hour photo editing and working on the blog (me)
Sounds like nine hours of smiles and happy children plus an ecstatic mommy!
Automatically on after initial setup, the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-fi hotspot is ready to connect to your mobile devices and provides a stronger signal and more reliable connection than your smartphone!
There was once a time my husband suggested a cross country road trip and I told him he was nuts and I’d rather fly. Now, I’m not so sure anymore since some airlines don’t have a Wi-Fi option! It may take a little more time, but we may be saving money on family trips by buying a Chevrolet!
I cannot tell you how excited I am and I’ve already told my husband we need to go Chevrolet shopping, like immediately! Right now you can find 4G LTE Wi-Fi in the 2015 Volt, 2015 Malibu, 2015 Impala, 2015 Corvette, and the 2015 Equinox with a dozen more models connecting soon. Visit http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/article/4g-lte.html for the lineup list.
I love that we all can utilize our time efficiently while on a road trip working and being connected while in the car and spending the quality time disconnecting once you hit your destination! Genius, Chevrolet, just genius!
*Built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi is for passengers only. Driver should use the connectivity while parked only. Chevrolet does not encourage distracted driving!
Chevrolet is merging the physical freedom of the car with the virtual freedom of Wi-Fi to become the first and only car company to bring built in 4G LTE Wi-Fi to the largest vehicle line-up. Visit http://s.chevy.com/TBX to learn more.
