One of the highlights of my trip to California’s Conejo Valley was visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley. Maybe I was looking forward to it because he was President during my young life or that because he and I shared the same birthday, or maybe even because he reminded me of my grandfather. Whatever it was, I arrived, toured, and was in awe the entire visit. To this day I am still talking about how fascinating this historical spot is and why it’s a must visit when you’re in Southern California.

A perfect venue for the entire family, the library and museum is full of phenomenal exhibits like a full-scale model of the Oval Office (you’ll be wowed how they built it to code) and the ability to tour THE Air Force One Airplane that Reagan flew in during his term. Interactive exhibits will keep the young ones interested and busy, and the finale of the Berlin Wall and Reagan’s final resting place has the most gorgeous view of the Simi Valley that will blow you away.
The Museum is designed for self guided activities, you should allow 2 ½ to 3 hours to view all the galleries and exhibits. Here’s a photo show of my visit that is bound to entice you to make the drive!

Admission was part of the Visit Conejo Valley media tour, all opinions my own.

We never got to visit it while we live in California. Maybe someday we’ll make it back out there again!

Thanks for this. It reminds me that history is history, and personal politics need to be put aside. This would be important to take my school aged son!
thanks,
Mitch

My husband got to visit the museum 2 years ago. He still talks about how fabulous it was. He especially liked waving from Air Force One.

This is a library I’d like to go to, I think like you because I remember the Reagan Presidency so much whilst growing up.
To date I’ve been to the Jimmy Carter museum and the George H W Bush (Snr) museums. The Bush museum also had parts of the Berlin Wall and an Oval Office where you could sit at the desk and have your picture taken. At the Jimmy Carter museum you can only look at the Oval Office from afar.

Interesting, I know my husband would love to visit them all! I believe the Nixon museum is also in Southern California, we are going to look it up!
