This year customers turned budget savvy, finding that value was more than just price, but actually a combination of on-trend trend fashion, quality AND price. With the same merchandise at 60% less than department stores, customers everywhere can live the designer life without designer prices. The solution to that combination was uncovered when scouring the racks at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls.
Those savvy shoppers found that seeing truly is believing; and they will continue to feel rewarded this spring. Now, consumers can indulge in spring’s hottest trends without sacrificing quality or overspending. Discover the savvy shoppers secret: off-price retailers are the better way to shop now and always.
Lately we’ve been shopping at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls due to their fabulous prices on name brand clothing. On a recent trip to T.J. Maxx we were on the lookout for quality men’s clothing, we picked up a few great shirts for my husband that he wouldn’t have bought full price!
The first one was a Pebble Beach Performance brand polo shirt. The shirt is top quality, a nice style he can wear to work and dress up with some nice pants for an evening out. The 100% polyester material is cool for the upcoming spring and summer months. The shirt sells for $30 and up online and we picked it up half price for $14.99, a 50% savings!
The second polo we found was Champion brand, another golf style shirt that can be dressed up or down. Also a polyester knit perfect for the season, this shirt retails on the Champion site for over $30 and we bought it for $8.99! That’s 70% off a flawless shirt! Collectively we saved 60% shopping at T.J. Maxx!
Off-price vs. Department and Discount Stores
T.J. Maxx and department stores offer the same brand name and designer merchandise. Department stores, however, conduct sales on select items at certain times of the season. Merchandise is marked down for a limited time and then returned to its original price once the sale is over. Opportunistic buying allows off-price retailers to offer even greater values (20 – 60% off) on all merchandise every day of the year.
Off-price stores sell brand name and designer merchandise, while discount stores primarily sell private label merchandise. They may offer some designer names, but the difference between the two is in the relative quality of the merchandise. For example, a blouse selling at a discount store for $19.99 was manufactured to sell at that price. At T.J. Maxx or Marshalls, a brand name or designer blouse selling for $19.99 was manufactured to sell at approximately $40.
