It’s been over a month now that my oldest daughter, now 12, has been wearing Bausch and Lomb’s Soflens Contact Lenses. She still absolutely loves them! Adding contact lenses to her daily routine has only affected the morning rituals as she is wearing the daily disposables, at night it’s just pop-out and toss! Still, we are looking at about 5 extra minutes in the morning for a full day of confidence. Truly the time in the morning is mostly just opening each new contact, she can get the lens on her finger and get it in on the first try now a days.
My daughter has been getting so many great compliments on her “new” appearance and some kids are saying, “I can see your eyes now!” As a seventh grader some of this attention is good and bad, but only bad in the embarassing type of way. Especially if the comment is coming from a boy! I love seeing my daughter’s eyes, they look bigger and the color really pops out as a gorgeous hazel, just like her dad.
When I ask her about the best part of contact lenses, her reply is, “they are just so natural, plus I don’t have glasses on my face anymore.” Her normal weekly use is 5 days during the week, to school and dance. Weekends are left for her glasses, this gives her a few extra days to tack on the end of the 6 month trial she’s doing and stretch out the length of her contact lenses.
One incident at school in the one month of using the lenses, that she felt the contact fold up in her eye. Not having to use re-wetting solution yet, she removed the contact, but felt it was too dry to reinsert. Now, as a back up, she takes her glasses with her to school everyday just in cases such as these. The contacts have also become a part of her eye, “I don’t feel them in there anymore!” just adds to that all natural feeling.
I’m so happy these contacts have worked out for her. I enjoy all the smiles I’m getting and I see the added confidence just making her a happier person, feeling good about herself. At this age, feeling a strong sense of self is so important and Bausch and Lomb has really helped! So of course the question has been asked, “after my trial is up, can I continue to wear contacts?” I’m sure that will be a resounding yes from both my husband and I!
