We all have our quirks, our habits, our issues. One that I’m sure mortifies my husband and children is one I do in the car incessantly. They are sweet enough to look at me with odd stares but say nothing. I pull out my gray hair, one by one in the mirror. Oh yeah, I do it while stopped at red lights, most often when I’m bored in the passenger seat. It’s become an obsession and usually happens right about the time I need to dye my roots, which is becoming way too often!
I typically buy hair color because I can’t afford the salon every 6 weeks. I’ve been happy about the result of the box kits, but as I near 40 years old, the gray is coming faster and furious and even making strange streaks lengthwise from my scalp. I tend to pull my hair back in pony tails a lot and that’s when you notice those roots the most, the gray framing my olive-complected face. I often resort to using MASCARA to cover up that gray between colors. (Please tell me I’m not the only one!)When the opportunity arose to try Rita Hazan Root Concealer, I squealed outloud! Celebrity colorist, Rita Hazan, came up with a great temporary solution to help us get rid of unwanted roots or grays the moment spotted rather than waiting for your next color appointment. Best of all, her new Root Concealer Temporary Color Touch Up Spray for salon color regrowth coverage or gray is a cinch to apply-just one quick spray and you temporarily cover up those roots or strands in seconds.
The spray comes in a small 1 oz. can and is super easy to use, just apply her Temporary Color Touch Up, simply spray six inches from your hairline. Use sparingly since a little goes along way – it dries and you’re ready to style your hair as normal. It also doesn’t contain any alcohol, ammonia or peroxide, so your hair stays healthy and natural-and it easily washes out with your next shampoo.
My Take: So, it’s easy, it’s a quick fix, I love it. Right after application your hair will be a bit stiff/sticky like you applied hairspray. I take a hair pick and gently comb through it and style as necessary. I have the brown/black concealer and my hair color falls somewhere in between. When you spray too close, it goes on super black so I’ve learned to pull back on the can and gently push the nozzle. The gray disappears and with my hair wash schedule being every 2 days, I find the color stays in really well until a wash! I have found that it rubs off on my pillow a bit, so if you don’t like that you can wash your hair before bed. The can is small and retails for $24 which is a bit high, but as soon as you figure out how to use it sparingly, it’s a great investment and it goes a long way! I use it in my part mainly and above the temples when I pull my hair back in a pony tail. It’s a great temporary fix to an aging issue lots of women have, and no more wasting my mascara!!The root concealer comes in five shades created to match a wide range of hair colors, including Dark Brown/Black, Blonde/Golden Blonde, Dark Blonde, Red and Light Brown.
