Makeup review by my 16-year old!

From a young age, I would play with makeup for dance recitals and competitions. I had no idea what I was doing back then (I still kind of don’t), but now as an almost-senior in high school, I enjoy wearing some basic makeup to enhance my features. Over the years I have graduated from only wearing mascara to adding a bit of eyeliner and eventually some powder.

A few weeks ago we headed to Walmart to get some great items from CoverGirl.  Walmart saves us money on the products we love with their everyday low prices.  I found everything I needed to create my “go-to” everyday basic look.

I start with the CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner Pencil and create a line above my upper lashes for a more casual look. The pencil is very smooth and glides easily in order to make various looks. One end of the pencil even includes a smudger tip to blend harsh lines.  In my opinion, the eyeliner is great for thicker lines.  For me it was hard to create a thin line, I usually use a makeup remover wipe to wipe away the larger line and it didn’t work well this time without smudging.

I coat my lashes with the CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara until I see the desired look. I have long lashes already (thanks Dad) and the goal is to get them to really pop!  The LashBlast line have been my favorite mascaras since before I can remember. This mascara is made with a patented volume-boost hypoallergenic formula, which is fabulous as that I have had some reactions to other makeup products. The mascara with the eyeliner especially gives the look of bolder, longer, and thicker lashes. For $10 we got both the mascara and eyeliner!

Finally, I finish the look off with the CoverGirl CG Smoothers Pressed Powder ($9.99)in Translucent. Pressed powder reduces the appearance of redness, oiliness, and overall smooths out your complexion!  I tend to get oily in the t-zone like my mom does so it’s interesting in even makeup how genetics plays out.  I like the powder, it’s not too heavy, hasn’t clogged my pores, and lasts most of the day!  I have freckles and I like them, so the powder blots the oil without covering them up!

What my mom loves is that I don’t look like I have a ton of makeup on.  She loves how my eyes stand out and I still look really natural.
