This holiday season, fall in love with the heartwarming tale of Janice, a little girl who looks forward to riding the Train to Christmas Town every year with her brother and Grandmother. This year is a little different though, as readers of the story already know. Accompanied by a bag full of surprises, woodland friends and jolly elves, Janice relives happy memories as she rides the train to Christmas Town once again.
You can share a visit with Santa Claus and receive a very special gift. See the story come to life as families ride the same train with Janice and her friends. The conductor will welcome you aboard and punch your ticket as you find your seat in warm, decorated cars. Meet Bumblebee the Polar Bear, Wabash the Squirrel, even Zephyr the depot cat and laugh along with Elves while they’re busy serving cookies and cocoa, and leading guests in singing Christmas carols. Upon arrival at Christmas Town, Santa climbs on board and walks through the cars greeting each child with holiday cheer
and his signature “Ho, Ho, Ho”!
The train departs from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Classic passenger rail cars are decorated for the holidays. The Conductor will punch each passengers train ticket in a jolly fashion. Elves travel through the cars serving hot cocoa and cookies to everyone on the journey to Christmas Town. The book The Train to Christmas Town is read aloud and those that have pre-purchased the book can read along!
Upon arrival to Christmas Town (passengers are not allowed off the train), Santa boards the train with some helper elves. He will make his way through the train cars making time to visit with each child as well as pose for photos for those that wish to take them. Continuing along the return journey, the elves lead passengers in the singing of happy holiday carols.

Being familiar with the Big Trees Railroad, and tours during the holiday season, I can’t find any information about where this train actually goes.
Is it using the tracks to Davenport, Watsonville, or to Felton. Where is the turn around point?
Are the cars weather proofed or open air?
For $100 or more for a family to spend I’d want to know.
The Mom Jen says
Cars are weather proofed and heated for your comfort, ride is one hour long. About the tracks and turn around point, please call 888-978-5562

The Train to Christmastown will run on the route between Santa Cruz and Davenport. The train will be operated by the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay Railway, the newly-inaugurated operation on county-owned trackage by Iowa Pacific Holdings, the company that has made such a success of their excursion operation out of Saratoga Springs, NY.
