I’ve lived in California all my life and have experienced earthquakes first-hand and often. As a matter of fact, I was driving a Driver’s Education car during the 6.9 magnitude Loma Prieta quake and watched the facade of a building fall just 50 feet in front of me! Earthquakes are scary and just last weekend, a 6.1 quake rattled the Napa area and was the second largest quake to hit the bay area since 1989.
As the city and others throughout valley are working to clean up and open local businesses, restaurants and other hotels after the Napa earthquake, The Meritage Resort and Spa (open and fully operational) has been offering displaced residents and travelers special rates to assist during this time. I remember our personal struggles without electricity and water for days, this can really help those in need!
We are working with our business partners and other hotels throughout Napa Valley to assist in any way that we can, said Michael Palmer, general manager of The Meritage Resort and Spa. We have been offering special rates to residents who cannot go back home because of structural damage, been in contact with hotels in Downtown Napa that have had to move guests, and are continuing to work with our staff to ensure that they and their families are safe.
The Meritage Resort and Spa is a proud partner of Visit Napa Valley and is working to provide guests with a list of open wineries, restaurants and shops they can visit during their stay in Napa over the coming days and weeks. Travelers need to know that despite this setback, the Napa Valley is open for business. Many restaurants, wineries, and other businesses are ready to continue to provide guests their world-renown high class hospitality.
Having stayed at the resort, I applaud the generosity displayed for locals!
