Greece is one of the world most visited countries, and rightly so. With countless beautiful Islands scattered across the Aegean Sea, there are few, if any, countries that can boast the natural beauty of Greece. But how good a destination is it for families? Well, to help you choose it for the next holiday we’ve put together a quick guide to why Greece is the perfect family-friendly destination.
The beaches
Greece has too many beaches to count. From the Cyclades to the Peloponnese islands there are perfect seaside spots to be found everywhere. With beautiful white sand and warm crystal clear waters, your little ones will never want to leave the beach! Plaka Beach on the island of Naxos, and the aptly named Paradise Beach on Mykonos are two that should be near the top of your list. Add Greeces unbeatable summer climate, and it’s easy to realize why the location offers such a great deal to families each year.
Athens
The Grecian capital is chock full of awesome activities for the kids. It even has its very own children’s art museum The Museum of Greek Children’s Art. This unique place hosts 7,000 pieces of art, and has lots of different fun exhibits and workshops to get children interested in creating their own. There is also another museum specially for children in Athens, the Hellenic Children’s Museum which has tons of activities for kids of all ages.
The history
While you might not think that Greek history would be the most exciting subject for children, the wealth of history on display is sure to inspire them. With ruins everywhere it is easy to spark a lifelong interest in Greece’s unparalleled history and its colorful mythology. From the Acropolis Museum in Athens to the ancient wonder of the Acropolis itself, there is much to learn and even more to see!
The people
The people of Greece are amongst the friendliest in the world, and this is never more the case than when they are around children. Even the grumpiest old geezer while lighten up when there’s children around. This makes Greece a perfect place to travel as a family as you’ll likely find that your little one’s help open up the locals and make them even more hospitable!
