Complete with spirited bonus features, this exhilarating and touching Disney classic is destined to be part of a family holiday tradition, adding sparkle and heart to all Christmases yet to come.
Our Take: This was a spectacular version of the A Christmas Carol story. The movie, like the story, was quite dark and at often times scary even for a Disney fan under 12 years old, hence the PG rating. All 3 of our kids watched the movie, while we prepped my youngest daughter by reading the book first and discussing it was often kind of scary. The bony finger of death made my youngest a tad frightened, so part-way through the movie she chose to leave the room to play with her toys. It does make you think hard about having a negative attitude and the result of it affecting those around you. The phrase “don’t be a Scrooge” means more to the kids now, but positively the turnaround of the character in the movie is truly a lesson to be learned. The animation is utterly amazing, with Jim Carrey’s features coming out in one way or another so clearly. Also, Carrey voices 8 characters in the movie and at some points you cannot tell, it’s genius!
