I say it every year, “I don’t want anything for my birthday!” I tell this to my mom, my kids, my husband, and well anyone else that asks. Just two weeks away from my 39th year, I wonder if I really have meant what I’ve said. Do I want anything, no. Do I need anything, not really. Are there things I’d love to just fall into my lap, well maybe.
If I HAD TO decide on a list of things that I want for my birthday that aren’t unrealistic or unattainable (world peace…), because someone is going to buy me something regardless and I may not like it, here’s what they’d be:
1. Chocolate. You really can’t go wrong. I do prefer a semi-sweet version if you must know. And, the Lindor Truffles make me insanely happy. Double bonus if it’s a chocolate birthday cake.
2. Coffee Card. You know to my favorite local drive through. I go there pretty much daily, am the mayor Foursquare, and well it has the best coffee on the planet and they already know what I want when I drive up.
3. Jammies. Sounds weird, and I don’t know if you’d buy this for your friends, co-worker (I don’t have any anyway), but I love jammies, especially soft warmie ones in the winter.
4. Socks. Remember when socks- & underwear-as-gifts stories from your parents made you go, WHAAAAAT?! I love a cute pair of knee socks, fuzzy warm ones, or cute holiday types. To wear at home, not in public…well public view anyway. Underwear is still a no.
5. Gift of Time. This from my parents is golden. Take the kids for a night out during the week (they already do this), or overnight on a weekend so hubby and I can have our time for dinner, movies, whatever! Priceless.
6. Wine. I love a sweet white, Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, fruitier the better. Paired with #1 and #6…oh yeah.
7. Movie Tickets. Fun. Flexible. Can’t go wrong.
I think that’s pretty much it. I’m seriously low maintenance (hubby is so lucky).
Tell me what’s on your Grown Up Birthday List??
Krystyn says
Oh, yes, coffee cards and wine.
And, I’ve still got three months, and just texted my mom I want a netflix sub. Unlimited movies? Yes, please. Pretty sure there won’t be a date night in my future in a while.
Maybe that should be on a baby registry!
The Mom Jen says
definitely should be on a baby registry!! 😉 best wishes

All of those sound awesome! I vote for chocolate and coffee that you can enjoy in your snuggly jammies. I’d add the movies into that mix, but I’m not sure you want to wear your jammies to the theater. Although I’ve seen it done!
The Mom Jen says
anything goes at our theater, I just couldn’t do it! 😉
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
I LOVE Pinot Grigio. It’s my favorite wine. It took me about a year to settle on that one, but now I rarely waver.
Happy Birthday, girlfriend!
The Mom Jen says
we’ll have to have a glass together next time!
Rachel @ Following In My Shoes says
My favorite white!

I’m the same way. I have been on this planet long enough that birthday presents are a whatever to me. But I do like a good spa finder gift certificate. I’m also a cash kind of girl, so that I can buy what ever I want when the urge strikes me, like some makeup or natural hair care product, maybe a new cricut cartridge. I’m sort of easy low maintenance, but that can be hard when someone wants to get you something special.
The Mom Jen says
cash! love it!
Shop with Me Mama (Kim) says

Awesome birthday list! But hey, I’m a teenager and I love getting clothing or anything on that list as a present. 😀 I’m secretly hoping for chocolate from my siblings since my birthday is coming up…… 😉
The Mom Jen says
happy birthday to you too!

Oh, jammies are ‘the bomb’! It’s really the simple things that count and you’ve already got what a lot of people wish they had -a happy, loving family 😉
The Mom Jen says
