My husband has few hairs on his head, but it is popping up everywhere else, this product was perfect for him!

His Take:
This Norelco tool is a convenient shaver and clipper. This cordless device includes a 3D pivoting head for a close shave and a trimming head with the 5 length settings for all other grooming needs. After years of shaving only with a blade I have found this device a quick and expedient tool to have on the bathroom counter.

I just pick it up and with no water or shaving cream I can eliminate the stubble. As a chronic sufferer of male pattern baldness (yes I’m down with MPB) I really appreciate having this trimmer on hand to tame my unruly tufts and makes my wife an efficient and practically free barber!

It trims the longer part of my hair but also adjusts to a razors close edge in seconds.  My wife likes it for those new hairs that are sprouting in places they shouldn’t (shoulders, back, ears).  I’ve never had a cut or nick, and it’s never pulled on my hair like some clippers can.  My son has been in tears before for this very reason! For its versatility, convenience and ease of use, this device has no equal.

Step2 Grill and Play Patio Cafe Review

If you read my site, you know that we are HUGE fans of Step2 products, they are always made well, easy to put together, and provide hours of fun for our family, neighbors, and friends!

Recently we were sent the Grill and Play Patio Cafe, a fabulous little outdoor toy that is perfect for year-round as well as indoors.  The day it came, it was blazing hot out and we decided to clear a space in my son and daughter’s room, to set it up in there!

The instructions are very concise, I gathered all my tools and parts to get ready and I had a really easy time with it all.  The only extra muscle I could have used is that first initial poke of the screwdriver into the tough plastic, after that it’s easy!  The kids helped handing me each part and got more and more excited as it came together.

The photos on the adhesive accents were very realistic and large enough for little hands to maneuver when helping mom assemble!  I’m most impressed that the toy comes with a full assortment of plastic food, plates, cooking utensils, condiments, cutlery!  Often you’ll find that left out and an added expense to the whole toy, but it was included and just made play instantaneous and fun after set-up!  The umbrella isn’t usually up in the house, just for the photo op, but it provides a bit of shade to one side of the toy or the other, not both.  Pull out the umbrella and take it to the beach with you for some shade in the sand, we did that and it was multi-purpose!

The oven and refrigerator compartments make for perfect storage for all the goodies included so clean-up can be a snap for even those kids who loathe it!

The Patio Cafe fit nicely into the corner of the kids room, but has now made it outside in the front yard and has attracted a few of our little neighbor friends as well.  When friends aren’t around, mom and big brother are happy to create a menu and place their order with the queen of the Cafe, it’s been tons of fun.

Retailing for $119, this toy is perfect for preschoolers and like I mentioned above includes all the accessories and the umbrella, definitely worth it!

Protect Your Identity with LifeLock

One of my best girlfriends called with bad news the other day.  Her identity was stolen to the tune of over $22,000!  The same day she got a call that her dad collapsed.  Her world collapsed that day.  She recently had sent out a myriad of job applications before she landed her current job, but her information was out there, for the taking.  She believes that is how her social security number and driver’s license was compromised.

I had just returned from a trip to the LifeLock headquarters in Tempe, AZ.  It was like a sign, I was there to help her, at least help her prevent it from happening again and also to the rest of her family!  Maybe you’ve seen the billboards with the CEO Todd Davis holding his exact Social Security card for all the world to see?!

While at the conference we learned so many different ways your identity can be stolen, it doesn’t have to be just from a stolen purse or wallet!  Did you know that your social security number can be bought online for about $15?!  People dumpster dive for information from your garbage (shred your documents), eyes are looking over your shoulder at the store and the ATM, and you know those credit card applications, they can be taken from your mailbox.  A flag up for outgoing mail (check washing, credit card information, etc) is a RED flag for thieves.  One thing that floored me was that your children’s SSN can be stolen, and they won’t know until they become of age and apply for jobs, college, or a car loan!  In an extreme case, a parent took advantage of a child’s identity and wrecked their credit!  Shocking, but true, Lifelock can save you the pain and hassel of identity theft!

Oahu for Families

I must admit that we caught the island bug.  Back in May when my husband and I went to Maui, we became hopeless addicted to the warm waters, the unique stretch of beaches all with different colored sand, and the laid back attitude of the locals that the paradise of Hawaii offers.  Now, this week, we are on a quest to take a slightly different approach as we did with our couple’s trip and are bringing the whole family to the island of Oahu.

Over the next week, we’ll  be enjoying stellar accommodations via a few different  hotels in the Honolulu area, visit some of the North Shore’s culture, and my youngest wants to see dolphins swimming freely out of the Wai’anae Harbor.

With tips from friends and our trip planner, we will enjoy delicious food from various local shrimp trucks, delight the kids with island-renowned shave ice, and the mouth-watering kalua pork at some casual family-friendly restaurants!

I want to let my readers and followers know how a family of five can have a wonderful experience on the island through our excursions, scenic hikes, and movie/tv-related tours.  Of course we’ll be at the beach plenty, boogie boarding, surfing, and snorkeling. But, my husband and I are really interested in visiting the USS Arizona and the Battleship Missouri Memorials and sharing that piece of history with our kids.  Will it inspire you to take a trip to Oahu

Green Grape and Tomatillo Salsa and Arugula Bread Salad!

Here are a few great recipes that include fresh California Grapes that I know you’ll love!

GREEN GRAPE AND TOMATILLO SALSA
Ingredients (makes 2 cups)
8 oz. wt. Tomatillos, husked and rinsed (about 5-8 tomatillos)
1 3/4 cups Seedless green grapes, separated and rinsed
2 Tbsp. Cilantro, coarsely chopped
2 cloves Garlic, minced
1 each Jalapeno, coarsely chopped, seeded if you like it not too hot
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Lime juice

Directions
Process all ingredients in food processor, pulsing until slightly coarse in texture.

Serving Suggestions
Prep/cook time 10 minutes
Keeps refrigerated for 3 days.

ARUGULA BREAD SALAD
Ingredients-makes 6 servings
3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, ground
1 medium red onion, peeled, sliced into 1/2 moons
1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic, fresh minced
4 slices rustic bread
4 cups arugula, washed and dried
1 fennel bulb, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup roasted red bell pepper, 1/4 inch thick strips
1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted
1 1/2 cups California green or red seedless grapes, picked from stem and rinsed
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shaved or grated

Directions
-In a small bowl whisk together dressing ingredients.
-Place red onions in baking dish lined with foil. Drizzle with 2 Tbsp. of prepared dressing and toss well. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
-Mix 1 Tbsp. olive oil with crushed garlic. Brush onto bread slices. Broil or grill bread for 1-2 minutes on each side until toasted. Cut bread into strips about 1/2 inch wide. Place bread, roasted onions, arugula, fennel, bell pepper, pinenuts and grapes in large bowl and toss with remaining vinaigrette. Sprinkle with Parmesan and serve.
