With two girls in dance 4 days a week, we go through a lot of dance apparel and shoes each year. Within that year, thanks to good ol’ growth spurts, we’re purchasing dance shoes at least twice, at the beginning of the year and again at recital. If we’re lucky we can find an older dancer who has gently used hand-me-downs to share, dance can be very expensive between classes, shoes, clothing, costumes and more! My oldest had the opportunity to review some great products from Leo’s Dancewear to fit her dancing needs.
Leotard: Although ballet and pre-pointe aren’t as active as jazz or tap, there is still sweating and this great pinch-front leotard has a Leo-tech fabric that pulls moisture away from the body to keep you cool. My daughter likes that it has adjustible straps and a built in shelf (for age-appropriate support). As a parent, I appreciate the generous cut in the panty area.
Convertible tights: My oldest has back to back ballet and jazz classes, so another great option in tights is the ability to change. Convertible tights are available to wear full length, footless, or at the knee for comfort and to keep cool. Even with a short torso and long legs, the tights are true to size for my daughter using their normal pant sizing. The hole is at the bottom of the foot and cause no discomfort while dancing with the thinnest of seam. Throughout the conversion and washing process, these tight have really held up and have not run or frayed. With tights being the item needing replacing most often, the added spandex in the material is nice and strong adding months of wear!
Lyrical shoes: One of her favorite classes is lyrical or modern dance, new and available to her age group just recently, you can literally go barefoot in class, but having a lyrical shoe prevents blisters and provides:

Tops: A great shirt with attitude can make you feel confident and powerful! The Make Some Noise-Tap tee is a fabulous statement shirt that is thin so easy to wear when dancing has a fashionable hood for wearing outside of dance with a tank top below. This worked well in an adult small size for my near-12 year old and wearing it to school gives her pride to promote her sport/hobby!
All the products we received are machine washable and have held up to even bi-weekly washing. I’m impressed by Leo’s Dancewear and will be seeking out the brand when looking at labels in the studio store and other dance apparel shops.
