Book 3 is out and how we love a good mystery. My husband is typically into non-fiction history books, but when he read the jackets of Diana Orgain’s Maternal Instincts stories, he was interested. The books take place in San Francisco, local to us, so he wanted to see if he could familiarize his internal GPS to locales throughout the series!
The stories are familiar to a lot of mothers, returning to work after baby isn’t as easy nor glamorous as seen on TV!
One common problem for new moms is the returning to the work force. The protagonist, Kate Connolly, is dreading returning to the work after giving birth. She wants more than ever to be a stay at home, but needs to bring in money in order to live in the expensive city of San Francisco. Working from home is a great compromise. Kate launches her career as a Private Investigator – only it’s not as easy as she thinks!
My take: Formula for Murder chronicles the latest adventures of Kate Connolly, and the action beings on page one when Kate and 3 month old Laurie are innocent victims of a hit and run driver while on the way to the mall for Christmas photos. Turns out the perpetrator of the hit and run is only the tip of an ice-berg which implicates the French Consulate, San Francisco County Supervisors, Local News Media Celebrities and a suspicious bio-tech firm. Kate, acting like Thomas Magnum and Jim Rockford on maternal adrenaline is able to unravel a mysterious string of murders that kept the pages turning. With the help of her fantastic supporting cast of friends and family from the other stories in the series, the adventures of Kate and Laurie in Formula for Murder are no doubt entertaining and leave me craving the next installment by Diana Orgain. Orgain is for moms as Patricia Cornwell is for forensic science, love these authors incredibly.
