Our Take: Having 3 kids eating 2-3 meals a day at home, we need practical, durable dishes. Not only do we eat on them, the older kids and us adults are transporting them from table to sink to dishwasher to cabinet. That time allows for possible dropping, breaking, and thus danger. Just last month my daughter dropped one of our ceramic plates while unloading the dishwasher that shattered to pieces. Over the past 15 years, we had only lost ONE original Corelle plate from our wedding set that was dropped on the cement outdoors during a barbecue. Inside on the hardwood floor, we may get a bounce out of a Corelle plate but not even a chip!

We received the Noir (Vive) pattern and this contemporary set is my favorite! I love the black and white contrast and especially the black coffee mugs. The bowls have a simple black trim that makes these very classy everyday dinnerwear. The Twilight Grove pattern (Square) are very unique with their square flare-sided bowls and unique mugs. They are different enough to have a dinner party and be the topic of conversation and to be honest, they fit amazingly in the dishwasher!

My husband and I have been married for 14 years. When we registered for gifts, we included Corelle plates rather than china, since we are more practical and didn’t envision ever using it. For the past 14 years, we still have those dinner plates and have only added plasticware for the kids to our collection. We do have a set of holiday plates, but they are not microwaveable or practical for everyday use. It was time we branched and selected a pattern and brand that would work possibly for the next 14 years!

A mandatory need is that they are both dishwasher and microwave safe, and even the stoneware is sturdy. My husband does the bulk of the dishes and often when they are piled in the sink, a fear is that something with this weight may crack or break when cleaning the sink. We are pleased that they are working out fabulously.
