As a little girl, I wasn’t very “girly.” I didn’t have Barbie dolls, nor did I have a furnished dollhouse as did a lot of my friends. My oldest daughter was sort of a tom-boy and yet, my 3rd child is such a ‘girly-girl!’ She’s always been the one to have baby dolls and play mama, want Barbies with tons of changeable clothes, wears costumes daily outside of Halloween week, and completely adore her preschool dollhouses and accessories.
For the holidays, imagine a little girl in your life waking up Christmas morning to a Melissa and Doug dollhouse under the tree! It’s entirely possible to find a fabulous dollhouse that takes only 20 minutes to assemble and comes completely furnished with even 4 family members. We have! This two-story house comes with 18 pieces of solid wooden furniture, a doll family of four, and a removable atrium with balcony-all included! Also featured– hinged and sliding doors that really work.
Our take: We love this Melissa and Doug Furnished Dollhouse for many reasons:
1. It was 20 minutes to set up and all the tools you need were included, by way of 5 screws and an allen-wrench. On first opening of the box, the pieces are overwhelming, but it was really quite simple!
2. Once put together, the items for each room of the house are color-coated to make it easy for small children to arrange! My four year old was telling her older brother he was putting the chairs in the wrong room with this capability.
3. The sturdy, built-in carrying handle that makes it so easy to move from room to room, or out of the way when cleaning! Brilliant touch.
4. More subtle touches like the gorgeous bed spread and pillows for the bed and the cozy little blanket for the couch. If these weren’t included, wash cloths and kleenex would have been substituted! The drawers and doors on the kitchen and bedroom accessories open and close, and the toilet makes my daughter giggle every time she sees it!
It’s an adorable gift and at $119 you are getting good quality wood (paintable if you’re so inclined) and all the accessories you’d normally buy anyway if sold separately! It’s provided hours of fun for our family!
