I’m sure that every 40-something woman out there has one burning question plaguing them. Is hula-hooping just like riding a bike? Can I pick up the ole’ hoop 30 years later and be the expert I once was right from the start? Well, I’ve done some recent research and the answer is a resounding NO!
I was given the opportunity to try Empower Fitness’ Cardio Dance Hoop. I hate exercise with no point so this seemed like “secret exercise”. I could trick myself into sweating. That part worked for sure.
The Cardio Dance Hoop is an all new calorie-blasting hula hoop that can be adjusted smaller or larger to change difficulty as you work out. It burns up to 600 calories per hour while strengthening and toning up to 30 core muscles. It also comes with five, five-minute dance-based workouts – which can be done throughout an entire day to fit in any busy schedule as it breaks up and brings the full benefits of a longer workout into smaller chunks!
When I received this cool adult hula hoop, I assumed I’d be spinning away in no time flat. Not the case. Instead, I sounded like Homer Simpson every 30 seconds when the hoop fell to my feet. Doh!
All kidding aside, I will tell you that, although frustrating, the Cardio Dance Hoop is still very fun. Happy side note, my abs were VERY sore after using it (back of my thighs too from all of the bending over to pick it up). I’m bound and determined to perfect my hooping once again. It helps that I’m pretty competitive and my 16 year old son grabbed it and was immediately a hula hooping expert. I WILL best him.
The Cardio Dance Hoop itself is very well made. Best part is it’s easily disassembled for transport or storage. When I make progress, I’ll be able to make it smaller to challenge myself also. Whether you’re instantly good at it or not, before you know it, you’re breaking a sweat. Bottom line, the Cardio Dance Hoop in an inexpensive, nostalgic way to give yourself a nice ab workout. I was actually surprised at how much family fun we had too. My 16 and 19 year old boys had a blast showing their mom and each other up.
