Flojos: Fashion Footwear for the Season!

Back in high school in the late 80’s and early 90’s, I wore Flojos sandals almost daily. The exact pair is shown below. I wore them to school, with socks (LOL, I know!), to the beach, and around town during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. They are definitely a California footwear staple!

Still to this day, I’m a sandal wearer, primarily flip flops! I wear them all the time and truly wear out each pair I own. Recently on Twitter, I came across the company and had flashbacks to walking down the Esplanade in Capitola, CA with my Flojos on and seeing them for sale in all the surf shops!

Flojos, recognized as one of the top sandal manufacturers in the world, is a name synonymous with the active, California beach lifestyle. Flojos (pronounced flo-hos, meaning “kick back” in Spanish) specializes in beach, fashion and sport sandals for women, men and children, with a focus on comfort, style and affordable prices.

Flojos established itself as a force in the U.S. sandal arena in 1979, with the introduction of the original Flojos, a popular rubber criss-cross sandal. The original Flojos style was borrowed from a traditional design from the Mexican culture, a style that has been a favorite among fisherman, surfers and beachcombers since the 1940’s. Recently, the Original Flojos and other Flojos styles alike have been making resurgence, showing up on beaches as well as city streets.

My Take: I recently received the Meadow style flip-flop and they are fabulous. Completely comfortable with a smooth sueded feel to the whole shoe, I am impressed by the arch support added to the center! Most flip flops, while not a heel, are flat and often leave your feet aching after a long day. These have just enough support that I wore them over the course of a weekend and they truly feel like a slipper, plus they are thin and not heavy when you walk! The added fashionable print just adds the right amount of femininity to the shoe.

Polliwalks: Fun for Feet

He had the idea that children’s shoes should be fun and offer toy like features that will make wearing shoes a playful experience, while offering support, stability and comfort for little feet.

Oh to have shoes like this! Polliwalks molded clogs come in a variety of animal designs that will put a huge smile on your children’s faces and are so comfortable for their feet! They are easy on and off which is big when you’re a busy family always going here and there, just grab and go! The Polliwalks furry slip-ons all have removable faux fur liners for easy cleaning, and also made to be worn year-round. Great to keep little toes warm in the winter and cool in the summer! Our Take: These shoes are not only fun, but they are effective. We keep these by the door to the garage and we just grab and go, my 3 year old is confident enough to put them on “herself.” The adorable style is a crowd pleaser as all her classmates want to see and “play with” her shoes!! I love how the furry liner just snaps in and out so easily, but when on, they are secure and don’t slip around when she walks! She can’t wait to take them to the beach and leave her bunny prints in the sand, and even when she’s bored she “plays” with them. They talk to eachother and fit great on her hands as well as she crawls around the house with them. They are a great shoe and toy!!

I’ve reviewed Eleven Collection shoes a variety of times, and each pair that we receive is even better and more adorable than the last. The styles, the way the shoes are made, the long life they’ve given to my active kids…I would love them to make shoes for adults!

Eleven Collection Shoes Fall/Winter 2009

Our Take: My youngest got the Simone style boot (retails for $56) and it’s so cute! With a pattern of fall color leaves along the side with both smooth leather and brushed suede, this shoe can be worn dressy or casual with a pair of denim jeans. Sometimes boots can be heavy and clunky for little feet, but the Simone is light and super flexible for my very active toddler! Reminding a 3 year old which shoe goes on which foot is constant, but with each zipper/velcro closure, I can tell her, “when your zippers touch each other they’re on the right feet!”

My take: I love the Lily shoe! It’s casual and elegant at the same time and elegant isn’t a word I ever thought I would use describing Crocs. They are really not just a beach sandal anymore! I can wear these flats with jeans, capris, and even a plain “little black dress” and I feel perfectly dressed. The shoes have the comfort of a slipper but also all the style of the hippest trend in fashion. They are very feminine and my almost-11-year old daughter is already asking to borrow them!

Sanita Clogs

I’m not a big shoe hound. But, the shoes I do own are special to me. They are quality, they are worn until they are worn out, and they make my feet feel good. I wear shoes that have cushion, a nice arch, and are made to last.

Sanita Clogs sent me a pair of shoes (all the while not requiring a review at all!), and I fell in love with them. When I was in high school and college, I was a huge fan of clogs and when I saw this pair I was thrilled, it was something that I was used to, and a style I preferred. A little history on the company that’s been in business over 100 years!

My Take: I received the Professional Cabrio shoe in brown. I felt that the shoe runs a little big, so I returned it for a 1/2 size smaller. Perfect fit. This may or may not be the case for all people, but was for me. I loved the color of the shoe, it works well with all jeans, capris, and even some styles of shorts! It’s not an overly dressy shoe so being a mom, I felt comfortable wearing it to school, the store, etc. The comfort is perfect, it has nice arch support and even will be nice to wear with a pair of thin socks as the temperatures drop this fall and winter! I have to admit I love the height of the shoe as well! I’m 5’1″ and I enjoy having a few inches on my shoe and not needing it to be a high heeled-pump. It’s a quality shoe and I highly recommend them.
