Where do you look when you need to find a vacation rental? About 8 years ago, we were looking for a great place to stay in South Lake Tahoe for our whole family to enjoy in the summer. I Googled vacation rentals in Tahoe and came up with a link to VRBO, Vacation Rentals by Owner.
Established in 1995, we’ve been in the vacation rental business for over 14 years. In fact, VRBO was founded by vacation rental owners who self-manage their second homes, like many of you do. We provide an online space for homeowners to advertise their vacation properties and make it easy for travelers to search 150,000+ rentals in over 100 countries worldwide.
You simply click on state, area, and even down to the neighborhoods and you can get a huge listing of properties from mansions to studio units depending on your needs. Putting in your dates for your planned vacation, you can list your results by number of bedrooms, sort by number of photos available, prices from high to low, and even if it’s “pet-friendly.”
When we came up with our Tahoe results, we were floored by the options. We spent a lot of time researching and came up with a condo that suited our needs. We had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen so we could save on dining out as well as a community pool and hot tub, enjoyable by the whole family. What more we learned was that the location was within walking distance to a school playground and field which is perfect for our children. We were set and we booked it via the online inquiry form.
Since then, we’ve stayed in the same condo for 8 years each summer! Tomorrow I leave for a girl’s getaway with my friends for 4 days. VRBO was the first place we looked when we decided we were getting a California coastal home to rent. Again, we went through the fun process of checking out all the amenities that we wanted and needed (ocean view and wi-fi), we found the perfect spot! Because I’m currently within driving distance of the rental, my husband and I drove to it to find out even more about the exact area and I know we’ve found a great spot!
Sometimes you just need a place to stay that isn’t a hotel. You want to relax and live like you do at home, but enjoy the surroundings of “away from home.” I recommend using VRBO to plan your next vacation!. You may find the rental that will be that special family spot that you use over and over again!
