Today was a rainy day and the kids are bouncing off the walls! What better to do than create an imaginary play environment that they can create start to finish! Let me introduce you to KidsCraft Playhouses!
My kids have always been attracted to boxes from major appliance purchases. Get out a marker and some scissors and a playhouse is born. That’s what the creators of KidsCraft Playhouses believed in when they designed the Creation Cottage ($59.95)and the Shuttle Imagination ($69.95). And to combine it with being eco-friendly in this day and age, both playhouses are made of 100% recycled cardboard materials and are 100% post-play recyclable!
The Shuttle Imagination, a large spaceship and the Creation Cottage, a playhouse, are ingeniously designed so there’s no need for cutting, taping or measuring. The flaps and slots are specifically designed and pre-cut for easy assembly and can withstand hearty hours of play.
The creators also left the exteriors blank white so kids could color anything and everything on the playhouses. Creative genius, I wish I’d have thought of it!
Our Take: The Creation Cottage came in 4 large pieces and took me less than 10 minutes to assemble. What was a slight bummer was that I got to wall pieces instead of one. Meaning the piece with the door/window combination was not in the box. Luckily the pieces still fit together well, and it was a simple fix to make an extra window into a door! **Update** After contacting the company, the correct piece will be rushed to me. FABULOUS customer service!!
What I did first was to outline some pictures for my kids to color in, I love that they gave me their own ideas and we could make the house our own. They spent about an hour coloring quietly and excitedly before they began going in and out and making up stories and adventures on their own. My 4 year old was in heaven and even my 9 and 11 year old helped decorate and enjoyed playing! Perfect for rainy days indoors, I feel the house is sturdy enough to take outside on the lawn on a sunny day, creating a whole new landscape for imagination!
In addition to being a smart and eco-friendly company, KidsCraft Playhouses will donate 100 of their structures to local charities like the Ronald McDonald House, Boys & Girls Club of America and after-school programs. The company will also donate 5% of sales to these organizations’ international headquarters. Donations will also go to Shriners Hospitals for Children, a network of 22 non-profit pediatric hospitals across in the US, Canada and Mexico.
In an effort to continue their dedication to corporate responsibilities, KidsCraft partnered with the Trees for the Future Foundation. Through this program, KidsCraft will be able to support sustainability by planting one tree for every product sold. In the 20 years since the foundation was established, they’ve planted more than 100,000,000 trees worldwide.
How can you not love this company!
