Our visit to New York City last month included me being totally fascinated by the 9/11 tragedy. I needed to see for myself what Ground Zero was like, what the new towers looked like. I had to stand on the streets surrounding that area that affected the entire nation. Above you see what the new towers look like from atop the Empire State Building.
The view from the Statue Cruise.Near Battery Park, and below behind “The Sphere.”
I stand below the new towers. On the ground where looking up 11 years ago you would have seen a sight indescribable.
I look around at the buildings that surround this site and you see no physical damage, it’s odd considering the event.
The reflections of the surrounding buildings. We must return and do the memorial tour at Ground Zero. I have this innermost feeling in my heart I need to see more. I remember waking that morning back in 2001 with my 6 month old son who was sick and watching the second plane hit, live. The feelings, the visuals, the loss…unfathomable.

I was just there last month too and they are coming along beautifully. We actually went in and did the tour and it was very sobering. Looking forward to returning when they have the museum opened.

I remember being in my 6th grade class where my teacher stopped all lessons, turned on the television and we all just watched as everything happened.
Like you said, just unfathomable.
Those are beautiful pictures you took of such awe inspiring buildings and memorials!

I went to Pace University a year after 9/11, which is pretty much right next to City Hall and only a few blocks from the World Trade Center. It was crazy back then to be living so close to it. When I went to BlogHer I went and visited the site, the new building is gorgeous! Though I hate all the people hawking those books around the area!
