Our Take: The oohs and ahhs from all of us got us excited to pop the game into the Wii and get dancing. I have to admit I’m a sucker for Hannah Montana’s Hoedown Throwdown, and We’re All in This Together from the High School Musical movie, it brought back memories when my older kids watched the show and movies and how time has really flown being a parent. All sentiment aside the kids got dancing!
From the start the icons for each player are adorable, they all look like Muppets and some have Yoda Ears, Mickey/Minnie ears, and some don crowns. My youngest started with Tangled’s “I’ve Got a Dream” and she knows all the words but it was neat to see them on the screen for her to read if she’s able to multi-task! The background’s on all the scenes mimic the show/movie/set style and we giggled out loud when we saw Cupid from the Tangled movie! There was a princess like dancer in the song that came up to sing Rapunzel’s part and having real people dancing is unique from the other Just Dance games.
My son who claims he can’t dance laughed to see S.I.M.P from Phineas and Ferb on the list and did a little dance move I can’t describe, but it did make me believe he CAN dance just fine. The kids loved the songs and the dances were definitely simpler than those of the other Just Dance games, but it didn’t seem to matter when you’re dancing to beloved songs. Even the older kids would finish one song and say, “let’s do another!” It always helps that my girls love dance and do it weekly at school (art requirement) and at the local dance studio! For the upcoming holiday we’ll be spending time with 11 cousins ranging from age 2-11 and Just Dance Disney Party is the perfect party game!
The game is available at Amazon.com for $19.99!
