My family and I got to attend a screening before the March 22 premiere last weekend and we enjoyed it! First and foremost, my husband and I exchanged many glances at eachother as Eep, the oldest “teen” daughter. We giggle that she was modeled after our own teenager in her desire to be independent and push the boundaries a bit. 
The Crood family made us laugh, nod our heads in agreement, and the antics of the grandmother were some of our favorite moments! Though there were lots of explosions and end of the world catastrophic events, the movie was not scary and was so very age appropriate for my family and I think great for those as young as 3-4!
The animation was great as the Croods were portrayed in slightly different stages of moderism with “Guy” as the most evolved. The bright colors and scenery and the exotic animals made for lots of eye candy and being that we saw the movie in 3D, the technology was impressive. The momentarily creepy animals turn out to be pets in the end, my daughter wants a “Douglas”of her own!
This was a super family movie, I’m glad we all got to see it, it really made us all think. My 7 year old asked so many questions about grunting, vocabulary, body size, tearing food off the bone, facial features, and we really had a mature discussion on the way home.
