One of the first things my husband and I did after we got married was to purchase a Costco card. It was one of the best investments we made and continue renew 20 years later. Costco is one of those places where you never leave without spending over $100 but the products are available in bulk and these days with our family of five, it saves us time and money to buy household items and food that way.
We are preparing a major clean up in our home to host a graduation party for our daughter. The bane to my existence is cleaning the bathroom, especially the tile, the floor, and the shower. Having white tile and grout are not practical and until we can replace it, we struggle to keep it clean and free of dust and grime. Luckily on our recent shopping trip, we found household items to get your most hated chores done with P&G and Costco to help us out!
First on our list of items to buy was a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I’ve heard this work wonders on grout in the bathroom and we found a package of 11 for under $8! I love these erasers because they’re easy to use, they have a pleasant scent, and they really work! Just run the faucet over the surface, squeeze out the excess and let the micro scrubbers work their magic. Little details like the pleasant scent makes this less of a chore and not to mention an easy one for the kids to help with! Fifteen minutes on a really dusty bathroom counter and maybe a few times a week is all that’s needed so I’m not embarrassed to have guests in the house!
The amount of dust combined with dirt, hair, and sink and shower water makes the bathroom floor another difficult spot to keep clean. It’s easy to sweep the floor, but that doesn’t complete the job. I used to buy Swiffer Dry for my Sweeper to catch the hair and dust because it has 3X the cleaning power of just sweeping alone. But, I also needed to mop once I was done, so I decided to purchase Swiffer Wet Refills and that combines two jobs into one with their dirt-grabbing textured cloths and scrubbing strip for corners, angles, and tough grime. Again, this has a great fresh scent and another easy chore for kids.
Finally, the finishing touch is to have Febreze Air Effects on the shelf to eliminate odors, not just mask them. Costco has a great deal where you get a pack of four in two clean scents, linen and spring. Rarely, if ever, would I say this, but I’m looking forward to cleaning the bathrooms now and I may delegate the kitchen to the kids, my second least favorite place to clean!
