Going through my photos, I can tell very easily the things my husband enjoys. It seems as if there is a bridge in the vicinity of where we are traveling I’ll get about 2 dozen photos of it. I’ve mentioned before he is a civil engineer and between our home and his office, there are bridge photos everywhere, it’s his thing. Here are some from our recent trip to Oregon, the Astoria-Megler Bridge was a beauty. We didn’t drive on it, but we did admire it from our walk beneath it and from afar.
The Astoria Bridge, stretches 4.1 miles from Astoria, Oregon, across the mouth of the Columbia River, to Point Ellice, Washington. Its construction was an impressive feat. The bridge’s main span is 1,232 feet in length, the longest “continuous truss” in the nation. The Astoria Maritime Memorial lies just beneath the bridge honoring those in the community that were lost at sea. The flag made for a great addition of color to the following photos.
