I love a good mystery novel, I was so intrigued when I was asked to review Bundle of Trouble: A Maternal Instincts Mystery, the first novel by Diana Orgain. First-time mom Kate Connelly may have found the perfect work-from home Mommy job: Private Investigator. After all, the hours are flexible, she can bring the baby along on stake-outs, and if you’re going to be up all night anyway, you might as well solve some crimes…
Bundle of Trouble: A Maternal Instincts Mystery was inspired by the transformational experience that motherhood brings. Battling sleep deprivation, diaper blowouts and breastfeeding mishaps Diana muddled through the creation of her first manuscript, Mommy style. Bundle of Trouble is her debut novel, the first in this humorous series published by Berkley Prime Crime. Diana continues to live in the beautiful city by the bay, San Francisco, with her husband and their children.
My take: I picked it up and could not put it down. One…Two…Three murders, a newborn, husband lost his job, mentor has a heart attack and she still has time to solve the crime, wait… crimes. Drug dealers, diapers, dead beat brother in laws – Kate Connolly can handle it all. Thanks to Diana Orgain for the introduction to this intriguing new slant on murder mystery, and I can’t wait for the to see how many cliff hanging chapters it will take Kate to solve her next case.
Hubby’s take: The storyline was so compelling that the “girlie stuff” didn’t bother me. It was a cool book to read, nothing wrong with a little light reading to widen your perspective.
