Visiting the Kraft Kitchens last week gave us the opportunity to eat some amazing recipes, traditional favorites, and unique creations thanks to the executive chefs. Not to mention they sent a very yummy goodie box to us on our return home, some of our favorites:

CHIPS AHOY!
Chips Ahoy! Chewy Gooey cookies are even more deliciously fun because they’re filed with smooth, creamy fudge right in the middle of every cookie. Heat them up in the microwave for 10 seconds or straight out of the bag. These were gone in record time after school the day they arrived. I need to hide those!

CLAUSSEN Pickles
Claussen Pickles go from the vine to jar in eight days and are kept chilled, never heated, to deliver the crunch and fresh taste you have come to expect from Claussen. Fresher pickles taste better – that’s why you’ll only find Claussen Pickles in your grocer’s chilled section. I love a pickle on the side with my sandwiches, not in it, but on the side, same for my hamburgers, the salt and vinegar tang just hits the spot!

CRYSTAL LIGHT

Beginning in Q1 of 2012 Kraft Sizzling Salads will be available in the following varieties: Caesar Chicken Dinner Kit (Cracked Black Pepper cooking sauce and Classic Caesar dressing). Southwest Chicken Dinner Kit (Zesty Fajita cooking sauce and Barbecue Ranch dressing), Tuscan Chicken Dinner Kit (Pesto cooking sauce and Sweet Roasted Garlic Balsamic dressing), and Asian Chicken Dinner Kit (Teriyaki Ginger cooking sauce and Toasted Sesame dressing). Perfectly paired cooking sauces and dressings that work together to bring you chicken and salad to life. We tried the southwest kit during our conference and it was tasty! Serve them separate for a great dinner or cube the chicken for a great potluck chicken salad. Yum!

OSCAR MAYER Carving Board
Oscar Mayer Carving Board is a line of slow roasted and carved meats for a taste of the holidays anytime you want. My 3 kids can eat a box of Wheat Thins in one sitting. In your box of goodies, like ours, you’ll get some new flavors, the Smoky BBQ are yummy to mom and dad’s palates, the kids prefer the sweet Cinnamon Wheat Thins that is only available through 12/31/11. I rarely say no to “can I have some wheat thins?” during the day!

BlogEats Conference at Kraft Kitchens

Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to return to Glenview, Illinois and attend a Delicious Byte Blogger event at Kraft Kitchens. This year the BlogEats conference was a thrill because I got to reunite with ladies I met last year and some I recently met, as well as make new friends. The Kraft team and associates and the PR group representing them put together an event that showed us some fabulous new products, got a taste of their wonderful recipes, as well as develop one of our own. In addition, we had some fabulous seminars on SEO-training, food photography, and vlogging for our sites which I would have love a day on each!

The event started with dinner and drinks at Maggiano’s Restaurant where we mingled, were interviewed by Kraft, as well as indulged in some amazing cocktails (think peanut butter martinis with Halloween Oreo rimmers), a hearty Italian feast, and scrumptious desserts (chocolate covered bacon anyone!).

The next day 13 of us (Jessi and Val had left, not pictured)– from left to right– Tammy, Lyndsie, Barb, me, Crystal, Kelli, Emilie, Kathleen, Stephanie, Tesa, Bridgette, Liz got a chance to work alongside Kraft chefs with one fun mission in the Recipe Contest Challenge. In groups, we had to come up with a dessert recipe using 1 or all of the following ingredients:

*Jell-O pudding

*Planters Peanut Butter

*Oreo Cookies

With the brains of 3 other ladies and myself, we came up with Snowman Surprise cupcakes. Last year Stephanie from And Twins Make 5! and I attended this same conference and learned to make Cookie Balls and were positive that they needed to be included in this recipe. Crystal (Simply Being Mommy) and Tesa (2 Wired, 2 Tired) were also in our group and we created a cupcake from scratch with a surprise cookie ball in the center along with a bonus cookie ball on top. We used pudding in the frosting and in the batter, peanut butter and oreos in the cookie ball and together we came up with the WINNING recipe amongst the group. Our recipe will be shared with Kraft’s Facebook page and I’ll share the exact recipe with all of you soon!

Kraft foods, sampling, and even a surprise new product reveal kept us going throughout the day with a special treat at the very end that had us all smiling, laughing, and acting like weenies! If you have going for a ride in the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile on your your bucket list, you’re going to be jealous! All of us got to ride around the neighborhood in none other than the famous hot dog on wheels with the charming two Weinermobile ambassadors.

The two days went by so fast, but it was an amazing experience! Coming in the next few weeks I’m going to be having some great giveaways including a Tassimo coffee machine and a whole lot of great Kraft products, stay tuned!

Peanut Butter Candy Bar Bites Recipe

If you like chocolate bars with a flaky peanut buttery center, you may recognize this treat, it tastes very similar to a famous candy bar! But you must try this Peanut Butter Candy Bar Bites recipe to find out, it’s simple and absolutely delicious, we tried them at the BlogEats Conference back when I was at the Kraft Kitchens, they do not disappoint!

Prep Time: 15 min. plus refrigerating | Makes: 32 servings.

What You Need

1		pkg. (16 oz.) candy corn (2-1/3 cups)
1		jar (16.3 oz.) PLANTERS Creamy Peanut Butter
1/2		cup crushed corn flakes
2		pkg. (8 squares each) BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Make It

Line 8-inch square pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Microwave candy corn in large microwaveble bowl sprayed with cooking spray on HIGH 1 min.; stir. Continue microwaving until candy is completely melted, stirring every 15 sec. Immediately stir in peanut butter and crushed cereal until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Press firmly onto bottom of foil-lined 8-inch square pan; cool completely.
Use foil handles to remove cereal mixture from pan; cut into 32 bars. Melt chocolate as directed on package. Dip bars in chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. Refrigerate 1 hour or until chocolate coating is firm.

Peanut Butter Candy Bar Minis:
Cut into 48 bars instead of the 32 bars.

Kraft Kitchens’ Insider Tip:
To lessen the chance of crumbling, the cereal mixture is cut into bars while still at room temperature prior to dipping them in the melted chocolate.

Note:
If any melted chocolate remains after all the bars are coated, store it in a tightly covered container at room temperature until ready to use for another use.

Nutrition Information Per Serving: 200 calories, 11g total fat, 4g saturated fat, 2g polyunsaturated fat, 3.5g monounsaturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 115mg sodium, 26g carbohydrate, 2g dietary fiber, 18g sugars, 4g protein, 0%DV vitamin A, 0%DV vitamin C, 0%DV calcium, 6%DV iron

Snowman Surprise Cupcakes Recipe

Back in October when I was at the BlogEats Conference at Kraft Kitchens and a group of us came up with a creative holiday dessert using some of Kraft’ss great products. We needed to use Oreo cookies, Planters peanut butter, and Jell-O pudding in our creation and we took all those ingredients and ran with it. Wouldn’t you know it, we won the in-house contest! The Snowman Surprise Cupcakes recipe is a time consuming only because we made the cupcakes from scratch, as well as the frosting, if you you use a box recipe and tub frosting, more power (and time) to ya!

Cupcakes

2 ¼ cups flour
1 ½ cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
4 large eggs
1 ¼ cups milk
¼ cup heavy cream
¾ cup butter
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) Jell-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
24 Cookie Balls

Beat sugar, butter, baking powder and vanilla in large bowl with mixer on high for 3 minutes or until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

Combine flour and dry chocolate pudding mix. In a separate bowl, combine milk and heavy cream. On low speed, beat in flour mixture alternately with milk mixture, just until blended.

Line 24 muffin cups with cupcake liners. Fill each cup ¼ full with cake batter. Place one cookie ball in center of each. Top with cake batter to ¾ full. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Test with toothpick. Let cool.

Frosting

1 3.9 oz. Jell-O Vanilla Instant Pudding
2 tbsp chocolate frosting
1 cup milk
Mix vanilla pudding, 1 cup milk, 2 tbsp chocolate frosting. Top cupcakes.

Cookie Balls

8 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
32 Oreo Cookies, crushed
¼ cup Planters Creamy Peanut Butter
6 squares Baker’s White Chocolate
Red and blue decorating gel
24 chocolate kisses

Mix cream cheese, Oreos and peanut butter. Roll into 48 balls and place on wax paper.

Snowmen
Melt 6 squares white baking chocolate. Dip remaining 24 cookie balls. Top with kisses. Let harden. Paint faces with gel. Place on top of cupcakes.
