My kids are getting older and Halloween costumes are becoming more of a challenge for my 10 year old son.  Growing up he wore the super hero costumes with muscles, then he became Indiana Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow and this year when I asked, “what do you want to be for Halloween?” his reply was a shrug of the shoulders. 

Luckily Just Kid Costumes has a variety for girls, boys, and adults and now that my son is becoming a tween, he can still find cool costumes.  He finally decided on being the Grim Reaper, much to my chagrin.  Boy is that a spooky costume, but boys will be boys and if it’s scary and black and cool, then we’ll let him do this. 

Our Take:  Though he’s 10, we order a 8-10 size because of the weight and height requirements at the Just Kid Costumes site.  The set comes with the hood, robe and a pair of skeleton hand gloves, shoes and scythe are not included.  Not a problem for us, partially because when you wear costumes to school, the “weapons” part of the equation is not allowed, we may or may not buy one for trick-or-treating.

The robe and the hood fit perfectly on length but the gloves are very tight to get on.  I’m not sure if I had gone a size up on the whole outfit if the gloves would have been bigger, but they are a struggle to get on.  We may have to slit the palm for comfort.  My son loves the spooky factor, also he wears glasses and the hood fits comfortable over his head and face so they aren’t a problem.

I was concerned about him being able to see out of the mask on Halloween night, but it is more see through than it looks, I tried it out (in that second picture you can clearly see his arm).  Also, we’ll be with him going door to door at night, so we’ll watch him so he doesn’t trip.  The length on the robe is just at his feet, so with black shoes and socks, we aren’t worried about tripping on the costume itself.  The material is thin and not bulky so if it’s a cool night like usual, his clothes will fit under the costume just fine.  Order processing at Just Kid Costumes.com was simple and easy and shipping was fast, so go check them out!
