The Digital/DVD/Blu-ray release of BUMBLEBEE is now in stores! In the film, CYBERTRON has fallen. When OPTIMUS PRIME sends BUMBLEBEE to defend Earth, his journey to become a hero begins. Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld), a teenager trying to find her place in the world, discovers and repairs the battle-scarred robot, who’s disguised as a Volkswagen Beetle. As the DECEPTICONS hunt down the surviving AUTOBOTS with the help of a secret agency led by Agent Burns (John Cena), BUMBLEBEE and Charlie team up to protect the world in an action-packed adventure that’s fun for the whole family. The film is rated PG-13.
The movie is soft hearted and not what you’d expect for Transformers. I wanted to see what the hype that all my preschoolers were talking about. Even a lot of the girls who saw it were impressed and having a female lead helped with that. Maybe the movie will be best for a younger set, but as a mom who didn’t grow up with Transformers in the 80’s (I was a Cabbage Patch and Barbies afficionado) I was pretty shocked to like it, plus my youngest daughter likes Hailee Steinfeld from the Pitch Perfect movies, so it went over well in our house.

Some of the toys came in the mail and I had my teen and husband put them together. They got into a competition to complete them first and then transform them back to original. Bumblebee had a trick to his hands to get the car to completely close, and be careful with the Bumblebee Stinger Blaster as the discs can jam up. DJ Bumblebee plays “Walk this Way” and “Bust a Move” and we’re still working on how he can sing with us.
Here’s a little video of his moves.
