Disney Channel’s original movie Geek Charming debuted February 7 on DVD & digital copy.  With familiar faces like Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Matt Prokop (High School Musical 3), and Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars), this is a great gift for your tween or teen!

Synopsis:

Dylan Schoenfield (Hyland) is Woodlands Academy’s top girl, and when film geek, Josh Rosen (Prokup) rescues her expensive handbag from the mall fountain, she owes him.  In exchange, Dylan must agree to be the subject of Josh’s next documentary, and if it means helping win her Blossom Queen campaign, her life goal is accomplished!  As Josh tries to expose Dylan as someone only into her own popularity, he finds there’s more to her than her created persona!  What happens when he turns the film direction around to show Dylan’s personal side, how will she react?

The DVD set includes 10 episodes of Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up” plus an adorable charm set that has 2 hearts, one “best” and the other “friends.”

Our Take:  When I first saw the cast list for this movie, I automatically knew my girls would love it.  Modern Family is one of our favorite tv comedies and Sarah Hyland is hilarious in the show.  Also, Matt Prokop charmed us all as Zac Efron’s goofy understudy in High School Musical 3. Even better, “Shake it Up” is a favorite show of all 3 of my kids!  I think it hits home mostly for my teenager who will begin high school this fall.  She’s read stories about the cliched cliques and has heard me tell of my experiences as a teen and this movie does portray something that can happen even in junior high, if anything it shows how you shouldn’t act.  Snobs, geeks, mean girls,  heroes, and a happy ending is all very Disney and Disney Channel that grabbed our kids and made for a sweet movie.
