One way to explore San Francisco is to Ride the Ducks. This amphibious sightseeing tour is fun for families who want to get a taste of the city on a unique craft that leaves you quacking up!
Hop on board at Taylor and Jefferson (Fisherman’s Wharf) or the Union Square station and take this approximately 90 minute tour that includes about 25 minutes on the waters of the San Francisco Bay. We had Leo as our tour guide and he was sweet, funny, and chock full of wonderful information, it was such a fun time. Each rider gets a duck caller when boarding, the kids were tickled pink and blew them to their hearts content (it’s actually mandatory and encouraged throughout the tour!) Here are some of the fantastic sites you’ll see while on the tour:
- Union Square
- Chinatown
- Ghirardelli Square
- North Beach
- Fisherman’s Wharf
- SOMA
- South Beach
- The Ferry Building
- The Transamerica Pyramid
- Chinatown and more…
You’ll also see Coit Tower and the infamous Lombard Street, the crookedest in the world!
Not to mention AT&T Park where the San Francisco Giants play. Then SPLASH!Don’t worry about seasickness, at 7 mph max speed, my son and husband get queasy on the water and this time it was a non-issue and no Dramamine needed! After your thrilling splash down into the bay, sightseeing from the water includes:
- City Skyline
- Bay Bridge
- AT&T Ballpark
- McCovey Cove
Sail boats brighten the horizon.
There’s the stadium and McCovey Cove where some homerun baseballs fall.
Oh and to make the tour even better for the kids, they can take the wheel when on the water. My daughter can just see over the dash there’s no need to fear (much).
My husband who is a civil engineer was fascinated by the views of the Bay Bridge as we made our way back.
