The second half of our Seattle trip found us staying at the Hotel Ändra amid the hustle and bustle of Fourth Avenue and downtown. The Scandinavian design elements used throughout the hotel are a tribute to the city’s Nordic heritage, with many hints of Pacific Northwest style – water, wood and stone. From the moment we walked into the lobby, we knew we were going to be treated to a luxurious experience that was also comfortable and a bit like home. There’s a cozy fireplace burning and a multitude of seating areas that are a welcome respite from the cool Pacific Northwest air and rain. The huge windows let in so much light that night or day it’s a great place to sit and read, work or people watch in a lovely quiet setting.
We even made it our own date night in spot after buying a bottle of local red wine and bringing down our wine glasses from our room. But if you’re looking for more drink options and perhaps a snack but don’t want to walk or drive too far, you’ll find an entrance to Lola, a Greek-Mediterranean bar and restaurant, in the lobby.
Now on to the room! We reserved a Superia King and we were pleasantly surprised at all the space! The room has a sitting area along the windows, plus a desk, and wet bar not to mention a vanity and walk-in closet.
Knowing we usually spend most of our time exploring the city, this is the kind of room you make time for to come back and rest, relax and enjoy!
It was nice to see a sweet treat, Swedish Fish in a little box with a bottled water and charming welcome note. All bonuses to make you feel appreciated and memorable enough for us to plan our return trip!
My husband was able to work a little bit from the room with a strong and steady internet connection. It isn’t something we typically do on vacations, but it’s necessary to keep clients happy and they appreciate attention while we’re away!
You really are hooked up with snacks and drinks at the Hotel Andra. Especially with a Walgreens just a block away, the hotel restaurant and bar, and of course the mini-bar in your room, you can relax in privacy and no need for an Uber.
Who loves hotel bath robes? I sure do and especially when they’re lined with soft cotton. We were caught in the rain one evening (when we left the sun peeked through the clouds) and it was nice to return to the room after our long walk to a hot shower and cozy robes!
The bathroom has gorgeous floor to ceiling glass seafoam tiles but is very compact once you slide that pocket door closed.
The bed is wonderfully comfortable and even though our room was adjacent to the elevators, the sound was only peace and quiet all night. Starbucks coffee in the room made for a nice morning as did the delivery of The New York Times to our door.
Also, I have to mention that when we were searching for ideas of things to do in Seattle during our stay, we came across cooking lessons and thought that would be fun to do while vacationing. Hotel Ändra is actually home to the popular Hot Stove Society, a year-round cooking school where you can learn everything from how to brew a perfect cup of coffee or butcher a whole pig! Now on this trip our itinerary was full, but what a neat concept and they have room packages that include the classes in the price.
Our second trip to Seattle is already in the planning stage and we are without a doubt making our reservations at Hotel Andra. It’s within walking distance to Pike Place Market, the Waterfront, and some great Seattle restaurants and bars we visited as well and just a spot that we fell in love with for it’s comfortable luxury.
