Gallery Direct: Photo Art on Birchwood

I’ve said it before, we love decorating our walls with photos.  The photos that adorn our home are mostly those of our children, our family, locales we’ve visited and all photographed by none other than my husband and I.

When deciding on the next piece of personal art for our home, we looked to Gallery Direct for a second time. We were so happy with our framed family print.  We thought of all the traveling we’d done to Hawaii in the past year.  With remarkable views and amazing sights, we finally decided on a photo that my husband shot from the airplane over Oahu.  The shot is of Diamond Head crater and being a land surveyor who minored in Geology, this photograph is something my husband just thought was short of awesome.

This time we decided to place the photo on Birchwood.  Printing on 1/2″ thick birchwood with archival ink, our print came packed securely and was a phenomenal sight in it’s 40X 28″ size!The colors were fabulous, the sharpness was there, and what was really cool was the slight texture of the wood showing through the photograph when viewed from an angle.  Two D-rings on the back for a secure hanging, the art does need an extra hand to mount, it was heavy for me to do alone.  The Birchwood is frameless, getting all of the photo included in the print.  I love seeing part of the ocean as well as the city aspect that surrounds all sides of Diamond Head.We have fond memories associated with the photo, so we’ve added it above our desk so we can admire it constantly!  My husband works with wood frequently in his garage workshop and has created many household furniture pieces and really admires this piece of art on the Birchwood, “it’s our style” he says!
