Easy Carton Bird Feeder Craft

Spring is in full bloom here in California and it’s the best excuse to get outside.  Our third-grade daughter loves everything about being outside in the fresh air whether it’s riding her scooter, playing with the caterpillars and snails, or planting seeds with dad.  We have tons of birds in our yard and to keep them away from our growing plants we needed to come up with a plan to feed them so they don’t eat from our garden. We printed the directions for the craft from the website and improvised a bit on what we had on hand.  Using a milk or juice carton, scissors, a pen, some yarn, and a few old wooden spatulas we came up with a quick and easy afterschool or weekend craft!

The directions called for wooden dowels for the birds to perch on, but we found these old wooden spatulas in the garage and my daughter came up with the idea that we can fill the wide section with some water for a bonus for the birds!  Love that she’s always thinking!
