It’s that time of year to get outside and embrace Spring. The ground is starting to thaw, the blossoms are popping out, the weather is warming up….only in California? Well, it’ll come for everyone soon enough! My kids have always loved being outdoors, and if they were too young to ride a bike, or too little to walk, a bike seat or wagon was our transportation of choice. If we headed to the school park, we could pull a wagon with all our belongings inside plus a child or two and no one would complain “my legs are tired!” except for maybe me!
Step2 is a brand synonymous with durable, lasting toys. This Spring you can enjoy those walks with the children in a Classic Step2 Wagon (the pink one exclusively made for girls). “Our research showed that while red was still a favorite, there is an interest in pink,” said Jerry McDermott, chief marketing officer, Step2 Holdings, McDermott. Girls will be tickled pink, literally, to get a ride in the Wagon forTwo ($79.99), available exclusively through Toys “R” Us in 2012.
The wagon comes with:
–easy-latch door
–two contoured seats
–deep leg well with molded-in drain holes
–long handle facilitates pulling and folds under the wagon for easy transport and storage
–two safety seat belts are included
–requires minimal adult assembly
Our Take: My husband wasn’t home when we decided to put it together, but thank goodness for my 11 year old son who’s learned a few things about tools! With 4 tools from the tool chest and just about 35 minutes time, the wagon was put together! Pulling around a six-year old makes for a good workout, capacity is about 75lbs. total and my daughter is probably just over 52 lbs. I like the seatbelt feature for the little ones, wagon is geared for about the 1 1/2-2 year old, and as they tend to wiggle about, there isn’t a chance for sliding to the bottom of the wagon.
The door’s locking mechanism is pretty sturdy, we all took a turn pushing on it when closed to de-latch it and it didn’t happen. A simple push down on the latch opens the door. The drink compartments are perfect for child and parent on a walk, and snacks can be stored below one seat. The wheels were smooth, turns were too. But of course, the best part is the color, my girlie girl loves it!
Similar prizing was sent to facilitate this post as I’m a part of the Step2 Test Drive Moms Program, all opinions are our own.
